Funding Educational Programs

The Home Builders Care Foundation empowers South Dakota students to discover the satisfaction of a building industry career. Through funding of educational programs, competitions, and scholarships, the Care Foundation enables students to build skills through hands-on education. We currently provide support to the following high schools:

  • SF Lincoln
  • SF Roosevelt
  • SF Washington
  • SF CTE Academy
  • Sioux Falls Christian
  • O’Gorman High School
  • Home Builders Academy Harrisburg
  • Brandon High School
  • Canistota High School
  • Dell Rapids High School
  • McCrossan Boys Ranch
  • Montrose High School
  • Tea Area High School
  • Tri Valley High School
  • Viborg High School
  • West Central High School

CTE Academy

The Career and Technical Education Academy (CTE) provides hands-on education as part of the Sioux Falls School District. The Home Builders Care Foundation helps students explore industry career options by serving as a classroom sponsor of the carpentry and cabinetry programs.

Frame the Future

Frame the Future is a workforce development initiative designed to introduce high school students to construction careers through hands-on challenges and mentorship from professionals. By bridging the gap between local education and the building industry, the program aims to cultivate the next generation of builders and address regional labor shortages.

Home Builders Academy

At the Home Builder’s Academy, high school students learn residential construction skills and build real homes. The Home Builders Care Foundation was the lead investor in the Home Builders Academy building on the Harrisburg High School campus, and the foundation offers ongoing support by sending industry leaders into the classroom. Thanks to this program, students who desire a career in the building industry enter the workforce prepared.

SkillsUSA

SkillsUSA is made up of students, teachers, and industry representatives working together to ensure America has a skilled workforce. Students are able to develop and showcase their career skills at SkillsUSA competitions. The Home Builders Care Foundation supports this mission by funding student participation in SkillsUSA building competitions.

Student Chapter Travel Funding

We donate matching travel funds to the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) student chapters at Southeast Technical Institute and Mitchell Technical Institute.

This allows students to travel to the annual NAHB International Builders’ Show (IBS) to participate in networking opportunities, educational sessions, student chapter activities, and see the latest industry developments.

Summer Middle School Construction Camp

Every summer, the Sioux Falls Career and Technical Education Academy (CTE) and the Home Builders Care Foundation host the Middle School Construction Camp. Interested middle schoolers spend four half days learning through hands-on education. As they assist in various building projects, they receive training on basic building safety, hand tool operation, and basic skills of the carpentry trade.
